War on terror The Second Poem by Nasibu Mwanukuzi

One of the artists we represent, Ras Nas aka Nasibu Mwanukuzi, has written a poem titled The Second Poem (War on terror). This poem touches on the ongoing global conflicts ranging from wars to religious tensions. "I have worked on the poem together with Mandingo Trio, and we have used kora as well as other African instruments. By bringing in the bass, drums, rhythm guitar, keyboards and vocal harmonies, I feel like 'The Second Poem - War on terror' has finally to life of its own", says Ras Nas. Other members of Mandingo Trio are Aliou Cissokho (Senegal) and Ali Jabang (Gambia). 'The Second Poem - War on Terror' will soon be relased as part of Ngoma Rhythms compilation. This compilation, containing nine tracks, features Ras Nas, Mandingo Trio and Waza Band.

Nasibu aka Ras Nas has so far published a collection of poetry "Double Focus" as well produced a CD "Cut You Loose". The CD contains reggae and African music. His latest CD "Dar-es-Salaam" has songs like Guantanamo, Zakina, Sina Makosa, River Nile and Revelation Times.

Making tribal wars
Is all about might and power
Chaos and disorder
It is
Like earthquake and thunder

Sometimes I sit and wonder
Why the wicked plunder
Trying to keep all other people under
Bondage and hunger

Everywhere I look around
War on terror and terrorism
Is the order of the day
Mankind
Is going astray

Suicide bombing in the city
Religious animosity
Everyday is a calamity
Superpower politics keep on corrupting
Humanity

All is stampeding
In a mental stagnation
Degradation
And destruction
Of a whole civilization

Globalisation
Scandalisation
Excessive human exploitation
Make me feel like writing
