Ghana's celebration in Oslo, Norway. Mandingo Trio

Mandingo Trio is one of the African groups that will perform at Cosmopolite in Oslo, Saturday 31st March, to celebrate Ghana's 50 years of independence. Others are the young and upcoming singer-songwriter Haddy N'jie, guitarist Becaye Aw from Mauritania, Abuwa from Nigeria and Adjei Apenteng from Ghana.

Ghana's 50 years celebration in Norway has been going on for the whole month, with lectures, children activities and an art exhibition "Africa i Norden og Norden i Africa". The artists exhibiting their works at the Horisont Foundation building in Oslo are Nomzi Kumalo (South Africa), Samuel Olou (Ghana), Marian Heyerdahl (Norway/Italy), Ole Lislerud (South Africa) and Samba Fall (Senegal).

Others are Germain Ngoma (Tanzania), Victor Mutelekesha (Zambia), Adoro Norris (Nigeria), Michael ODonnel (UK), Fadlabi (Sudan), Dr. Glover (Ghana), and Washington Jose (Brazil).

"We are so far very satisfied with the response from the public," says Abuwa Edema of Minorlinks. The celebration has been organised by AGINO (Association of Ghanaians in Norway), Kongoi Productions and Minorlinks.

Don't forget to make a stop-over at Horisont while you are in Oslo during these early spring days. The art exhibition can be seen until the last week of April.
