The originator of the seminal lovers rock anthem "Cottage in Negril", Tyrone Taylor passed away on 1st December this year in Kingston, Jamaica, after a battle with prostate cancer. Tyrone Taylor was 50 years old and suffered two strokes these last years.

Although the late Tyrone Taylor was in the music throughout the 1970's recording songs as the heavy 'Sufferation' in 1978 produced by Niney The Observer on Weed Beat label, Tyrone Taylor didn't know success until his biggest hit issued from the 1983 great album 'Cottage In A Negril' released on Love Time label.

The song, driven by Taylor's soulful delivery and an infectious saxophone solo, was a homage to the West End resort town which became a hang-out for American hippies and college students in the 1970s.

Three years later, he recorded an other set with Ken Boothe entitled 'Two Of A Kind' released in 1987 on Tuff Gong and came back in 1994 with the hit 'Rainy Sunset'. However, Tyrone Taylor never recaptured teh success of Cottage in Negril which was recently covered by singer Duane Stephenson.

Reggae has yet missed another great singer. RIP!
