Reggae on The River Festival, ROTR, began more than 20 yeas ago as a fundraising concert to rebuild the Mateel Community Center after it was burned by an arsonist in 1984. The unfolding story is a celebration of love, unity and community. It shows how powerful grassroots economic development can be when forward thinkingpeople come together to form a collective consciousness. Each year, thousands of people from all corners of the globe make the pilgrimage to the Eel River to connect spiritually with old friends and make new ones. It is a "tribal" gathering, a place where human interests and the natural spirit take precedence; a place where hip-hoppers, dreadlockers, and Woodstockers join in dance and share good vibrations while uniting through the universal language of music.
