<title>Bon-Air, a new Caribben jazz CD by Karlos Rotsen</title>
		<link>http://www.kongoi.com/index.php/New-releases/Bon-Air-a-new-Caribben-jazz-CD-by-Karlos-Rotsen.html</link>
<description> Bon-Air is the title of Karlos Rotsen's debut album containing fresh sounds of jazz mixed with soul, gospel and funk. A pianist made in the West-Indies and living in Paris, Karlos is also a composer as well as arranger who has studies music at the Martinique Conservartory of Music and Dance (directed by Nicole Fraysee). Karlos has also studied at the renowned Higher Institute of Arts (ISA) in Cuba under the guidance of teachers such as Anres Alen and Ivet Frontela.

In it&amp;rsquo;s own right, &amp;ldquo;Bon- Air&amp;rdquo; is a hommage to Aim&amp;eacute; C&amp;eacute;saire, a fusional element that becomes part of the history of &amp;ldquo;cr&amp;eacute;olit&amp;eacute;&amp;rdquo; with roots stretching from Africa to the American continent, passing through the Caribbean. With a musical audacity Karlos' Bon-Air album challenges Martinican musical tradition (b&amp;egrave;l&amp;egrave;,biguine, mazurca ..) by fusing his music with influences from accross the Caribbean. Here one can hear Jamaica, Cuba and Haiti, among others. The result of this mix is a melodic and accessible sound that injects a fresh breath into Caribbean jazz.

<title>A painter in Hikkaduwa, Sri Lanka: Rashid Mohammed Rummy</title>
		<link>http://www.kongoi.com/index.php/Painting/A-painter-in-Hikkaduwa-Sri-Lanka-Rashid-Mohammed-Rummy.html</link>
<description>&amp;ldquo;I am painting because I like it&amp;rdquo;, says Rashid Mohammed Rummy, a painter from Sri Lanka living in Hikkaduwa, a tourist town in South-East Sri Lanka. Kongoi Productions met Rashid recently at his gallery, where he and other painters are exhibiting and selling their unique paintings.

Rashid, or Rummy as his nick-name goes, has been painting for the past 20 years and is among five best known painters in Hikkaduwa. He is sharing his gallery with another painter, T.G. Susantha.

After the Tsunami wreak havoc the coastline of Hikkaduwa in 2004, life is now pretty much back to normal and the town is bustling with tourists, beach parties and a myriad of small scale businesses. Hikkaduwa is half an hour drive from Galle and two hours from Colombo.

		<link>http://www.kongoi.com/index.php/Artists/Garnett-Silks-Son-Steps-on-World’s-Hip-Hop-Stage.html</link>
<description>If you&amp;rsquo;ve been listening to Reggae music for several years, you know that Garnett Silk was one of the industry&amp;rsquo;s most celebrated artists. Singing songs of freedom and personal upliftment, Silk always had the lyrical remedy for the ills of his listeners. He was also an artist who inspired many fellow artists as they strived to impact fans the way he did.

One of Garnett Silk&amp;rsquo;s seeds, his son Duce Califa is walking the road of music; not in Dancehall or Reggae, but in Hip Hop! Called &amp;lsquo;Hip Hop&amp;rsquo;s Delivery&amp;rsquo; because of the way in which he performs and delivers his lyrics, the young Hip Hop Emcee named Duce Califa (real name Fabian Smith) is as natural to the genre as his Father was to Reggae.
