"Painting for me is joy and relaxation, an outlet from pain and confusion" says Frederick Caruthers, a Californian painter living in Oslo, Norway. "When I see the white space of the canvas shapes and colors occur, I make decisions when I go along, one color calls for another, one shape demands another." We hooked up with Freddy, "Flavour" in Oslo and had a chat with him about his recent painting exhibition at Cafe Lyst.Freddy was born in 1959 in Los Angeles, California, moved from Compton to Carson, to Indiana and back to Los Angeles. Since summer 1998 he has had his residence in Oslo, Norway.
