Hugh Masekela and Chisa All-Stars play in Toronto at the Phoenix Concert Theatre, Friday 15th February. The event is arranged by Small world Music and Karibuni Radio (CIUT 89.5 FM). "Small World and Karibuni Radio are thrilled to honour Black History Month by presenting one of the greatest African musicians of all-time Hugh Masekela; leading a spectacular collective of all-star musicians from South Africa's first black-owned record label," says a press release.

The concert at Phoenix Concert Theatre starts at 8.00 pm.

Carola Kinasha - Musician from Tanzania

Carola Kinasha

Carola Kinasha, the Tanzanian singer and musician, has released her second album, Maono. Maono meaning vision in Kiswahili, has music that crosses cultural boundaries, from Tanzania to Congo, a unique blend of the traditional and modern. Carola comes from the Maasai people of northern Tanzania, or as she puts it "proudly Tanzanian and forever Maasai".

An accomplished performer in her own right, Carola is also an activist fighting for the basic rights of musicians in Tanzania. She has worked extensively on campaigns to bring music education back into the schools of Tanzania. In 2002 Carola was recognised by the MA Africa Awards in South Africa.
