Ras Nas aka Nasibu is a musician and poet from Tanzania. His music style is a mix of reggae, swahili rumba and dub poetry. The lyrics are in both English and Swahili. "Dar-es-Salaam" is Ras Nas' follow up to debut "Cut You Loose" (1997) which also contained tracks in both English and Swahili. In this latest CD, Ras Nas appears to gain maturity and attain a distinct identity as a musician. The eight tracks include songs like Guantanamo, Zakina, River Nile and Revelation Times Ras Nas has been around for a while. In 1992 he performed for Nelson Mandela and 1998 shared the stage with Lou Reed, Van Morrison and Bob Dylan at Norwegian Wood Festival. The new CD is a follow up to the debut "Cut You Loose" (1997). November 2007, Ras Nas was among the artists at Oslo World Music Festival. Other musicians included Seun Kuti, Simphiwe Dana, Rachid Taha, Ba Cissoko and Cessaria Evora.
