Selam - A singer/songwriter from Ethiopia

"My aim is to bring forth a musical movement of such magnitude that it is continually impacting, elevating, and leading generations toward healing, revitalizing, and energizing in a harmonic convergence" says Selam, a talented singer/songwriter from Ethiopia living in Atlanta, Georgia. Selam means "Peace" in the Ethiopian language and her name describes her feelings, hopes and desires for all life forms. Selam was born in East Africa in Addis Ababa the capital city of Ethiopia. Selam’s soul draws from a rich and royal heritage. Her maternal genetic lineage can be traced to Enoch the prophet, The Queen of Sheba up to the former Emperor of Ethiopia Halile Salassie. Singing since age seven, Selam has been blessed with strong spiritual values and a love and passion for music. Her art exemplifies that music is a powerful tool that must be used wisely. She has also interviewed and joined Smokey Robinson, Sheila E, and Ed Asner for the “LA Singers United”, videotaping for the Los Angeles Community Skill Center. Selam was also invited to perform for the “Children Miracle workshop”, a charity organization which raises money for families who can’t afford medical treatments for their children. Selam was interviewed on WRFG 89.3 RADIO station in Atlanta where she enjoyed the opportunity to premier several of her songs on public radio. The audience’s response was over whelming and phenomenal. She was recently invited to perform at the “MLK Voices for Peace Celebration”, in Washington DC.Which was aired on C-SPAN. The impact and magnitude of her musical performance moved and thrilled her audience’s so much, they literally surrounded her for autograph request to affirm their love, support and appreciation for her sincere and heartfelt performance.
