Beatrice Kateme Byakika - A singer from Uganda Print E-mail
Beatrice Kateme Byakika a singer and songwriter from Uganda. East African MusicMiss Beatrice Kateme-Byakika from Uganda is a singer-songwriter known for her eclectic interpretation of East African music. Beatrice began her professional career as a back up singer for Uganda’s International diva Rachel Magoola between 2004-2006 before beginning to pursue her own music desire to write and record her album.

Beatrice's music is an exquisite blend of contemporary African styles with soul and melodic edge . It is difficult to box her into a single musical style per se, as her musical sound, is quite pleasantly unique. There is a sweet, syrupy, sensual, pure innocence to her voice, which has one pressing the repeat buttons. Whether she engages her deep sexy throaty voice or girly voice, she is definitely the kind of singer, and there are few of them, who can sing without musical accompaniment and still dazzle a crowd. With the completion of the Coming Home album which includes the tracks to Answers in the Sky, Nilizaliwa (Swahili for I was Born), Gwendayira and Sitarudi, Beatrice stands out as one of the rare gems in East African music. The album is a fusion of East African rhythms and contemporary sounds.

Due to a varied upbringing in both Kenya and Uganda Beatrice spins tales of life and love in a variety of East African languages like Swahili, Lusoga, Samia and English.
