The 5th Sauti za Busara world music festival, showcasing the wealth and diversity og music from the Swahili speaking region, plus artists from other parts of the world, takes place in Stone Town in Zanzibar from 7th-10th February 2008. To cap it all, the festival organisers have announced the Festival Finale Party on 12th, featuring music, DJs and accrobats at Fairmont Zanzibar.

Among the artists at Busara World Music Festival are Malouma Mint Moktar Ould Meidah, with a mix of traditional and modern sounds of Mauritania. Malouma's first album "Desert of Eden" from 1998 established her in world music circles worldwide as a talented artist, composer and interpreter with an extraordinary voice.

Be sure to get a copy of "Busara - Promoting East African Music", a stunning array of photographs recollecting scenes of the festival's history for a coffee-table book, published in collaboration with Zanzibar Gallery.

The main stage is constructed in between banana trees, inside the ancient walls of the Old Fort in Stone Town, a UNESCO-listed World Heritage Site. Performances continue non-stop from 4pm to 1am daily. The venue will host two festival bars, kiosks selling meals and snacks, local and international music, clothes and local handicrafts.
