![]() Jah Kimbuteh The history of reggae music in Tanzania will never be complete without mentioning Jah Kimbuteh. Jah Kimbuteh is the pioneer in Tanzanian reggae music, who started his Roots and Culture Band in Dar-es-Salaam in 1983. During that time, rastafarism and reggae music was still not very common in Tanzania. After a short retreat in the port city of Tanga, in northern Tanzania, Jah Kimbuteh is back in Dar-es-Salaam with a full force and new energy, ready to roar again. So watch out for Jah Kimbuteh and Roots and Culture Band! With Roots and Culture Band, comprising of young musicians mostly from Kinondoni area, Jah Kimbuteh made shows both in Tanzania and neighbouring countries in the mid 80's. Kimbuteh blends afro beats with reggae and tradional african music into a fresh potpourri of scincillating and hypnotising sounds. He has written many songs that represent popular outcry from different sections of the society. Comments (0)
