Kush - Roots Reggae and African Jazz musician from Ivory Coast
Kush, singer, songwriter, arranger and musician, blazed onto the Ivory Coast music scene in 1993 with his first release "Crushed", which propelled itself to the top of the charts.
His fiery delivery caught the attention of west African youth who were not only taken by the reggae rhythms but were captivated by the passion and strength with which Kush, as a musician, conveys his message.
'Les Miserables', Kush's second solo album, is a musical bouquouet of traditional Roots Reggae mingled with African and Jazz undertones and was one of 1998s highest sellers. The video of 'Les Temps Changent', the first of many hits from the album, was #1 on Ivorian TV for several months.
Now, after several years of recording and performing, Kush is ready to release on the international market a masterpiece; which not only exemplifies Roots Reggae at it musical peak, but also captivates the listener with unforgettable melodies and poetic expression of Rastafarian faith and wisdom.
We will back with more news of the release.

Kush's Concert at the CCF (French Cultural Center), The Triumph of Jah! by Aboubacar Ben Doumbia
Kush, the rasta and ex-leader of the group Farafin'h, gave a performance last Thursday at the French Culture Center in Abidjan. The concert, worthy of the biggest stars of Reggae, was really a confirmation of Kush's ascent.
Splendid décor, impeccable sound, cosmopolitan audience; this was the prevailing atmosphere of this ceremonial reggae event, which started at 9 pm. A few minutes later, Mame Campbell (the MC) who was more eloquent than ever, began to describe the meaning of the colors displayed on the stage. Firest red, which signified the momory of the spilt blood of black peoples, next yellow for the return of African riches stolen by the imperialists, then green which represents African green ancestral land... and finally the music.
Artists such as Demalaf, Magic Black Sound opened the show with two of their best songs from their repertoire. Kajeem, The Son of Jah, was next on the roster. From the first notes of his songs, Kajeem connected with the audience whi was attracted to his controversial lyrics. The texts of his songs reflect the current socio-political crises.
Kush and his band appeared on stage at 10 pm. Right from the beginning, Kush transported us on "the rivers of Babylon" (lyrics from one of his songs). Kush lamented the situation of his people and one felt that Jah would soon react to his lamentations. The public espoused Kush's cause through active participation: screams, applause and intense dancing.
Kush, as if taken in a Burning Spear-style trance, gave free expression to his inspiration and talent. "We are not surprised", stated the Rastas in the audience, "the musicians, due to their mastery and professionalism are in perfect harmony with the singer."
During one hour and a half, Kush delivered 16 of the most spellbinding songs from his musical reservoir; one of which was a rendition of the immortal song "War" by the king Bob Marley. It was purely sensational!
