Daara J, a hip-hop and rap trio from Senegal is among the major attractions to this year's Oslo World Music Festival in Oslo, Norway. The annual Oslo World Music Festival is now entering its eleventh year and this year's festival offers a wide range of world music artists from the four corners of the globe.Coincidentally enough celebrates Daara J their eleventh year in music business together. Daara J trio can trace their history to the early 90's and their first album "Daara J" was released in 1997, recorded with Mad Professor and Bubbler. This was followed by "Xalima" and the critically acclaimed "Boomerang" which saw the light in 2003. The latter also guests such names as Sergent Garcia, Disiz La Peste and Rokia Traore. Daara J sings in a mixture of French and Wolof. The group has also received a number of music awards, among them the "BBC - Radio 3 Awards for World Music 2004. African category"Other artists already on the list are Cesaria Evora from Cape Verde, the absolute Diva of African music, Khaled from Algeria (crowned as the Rai King), Habib Koite from Mali and Zap Mama from Belgium/Congo.
